Dearest K&J Families, Alumni and Friends,

Over the last few months, the newly formed Ken and Jean Alumni Association Board has danced, choreographed and directed their way towards the premiere of the Ken and Jean Alumni Association. It is our pleasure to announce that membership is now open and can be completed via the Ken and Jean Dance Studio website www.kenandjeandance.com/alumni .

As a non-profit, the goal of the Ken and Jean Alumni Association is to inspire and engage dancers and their families who have attended the Ken and Jean Dance Studio in any capacity since its inception in 1948. The vision is to support the Ken and Jean Dance Studio with their mission of fostering creativity, building self-confidence, and lending grace to everyday movement. Some of the many things the Ken and Jean Alumni Association will do include:

  • Support the Dance Class From Darcy Fund and contribute to educational initiatives that align with the studio’s goals. The Dance Class From Darcy Fund provides financial aid to a student in need upon unforeseen circumstances like illness or death in the family, displacement from their home, or other tragedy.

  • Administer the new Ken Phifer Scholarship and Jean Phifer Scholarship, awarded to two graduating seniors each year.

  • Offer Enriching and Fun Experiences, particularly focusing on dance and theater performances, as well as community building. Experiences may include injury prevention seminars and “A Night At The Ballet.”

  • Connect and Reconnect as a Ken & Jean Family and Community.

  • Fundraise and Contribute to Ken and Jean Cares and the Advanced Competition Team Fundraisers.

The Ken and Jean Alumni Association, which is upheld by strict bylaws, has an elected governing board, as well as committee chairs, with varying responsibilities. The Alumni Association will be seeking committee chairs in the near future and a new board will be voted on and implemented every three years.

Membership will come in two forms – Yearly and Lifetime Memberships

Yearly Membership:

  • Annual Fee: $30.00.

  • Includes a Ken and Jean Alumni Association water bottle.

  • After 10 years, membership is automatically converted to a Lifetime Membership.

Lifetime Membership:

  • One-Time Fee: $200.00. This introductory rate is set to increase next year.

  • Includes a personalized Ken and Jean Alumni Association Embroidered Jacket and Ken and Jean Alumni Association water bottle.

Who is eligible? All alumni, family and friends are welcome to be members of this organization. Any interested individual is invited to support the Ken and Jean Alumni Association.
